Glamorous Eye Makeup Tips

Trim the false lashes to fit your eyes. Hold up the strip of lashes to your eye. If they are a little longer than your lash line, use your scissors to trim the edges.

Apply eyeshadow primer over your entire eyelid from the lash line up to the browbone. The primer will help the glue adhere.

If your lashes are short, you may consider using a lash curler before applying mascara. In general, two coats of mascara are used, waiting four to five minutes for each application to dry. Using a brush or wand, distribute the mascara evenly from roots to ends. A lash comb may be used to remove any clumps that are left.

Apply loose powder under your lids to catch any shadow that will fall during the application process (trust me, it makes removal much easier). Then, add a cream or white shadow all over your lid and follow with a black or silvery powder shadow starting right above your lash line to the crease. Try something like Solution eyes Seduce Palette for a smoldering look. Apply your eyeliner, curl your eyelashes, and add false lashes if you like. If not, just add two coats of black mascara.

Line the eye with an eye-liner pencil. To get a smooth, dark application, warm the pencil gently by running the point over your hand before application. When drawing your line, extend slightly beyond the end of the eye on the outer corner and flick upwards to extend the eye. Next line the eye again, this time using a slant edged brush with a small amount of dark silver shadow and blend from the inside to the outside of the eye to create a smoky look.

Next, to create a lacquered look, smear the dark area of your lid with a transparent-silver or sheer-gold lip gloss. Add some more to the inner V of your eyes and underneath your eyeliner on the bottom lashes. While it's very tempting to play with the lacquer, I urge you to resist temptation and let it be, or you'll cause smudging.

Wipe away any fallen shadow with a clean fluffy brush and just keep buffing until it's all gone. Lastly, bring your gloss with you when you leave the house so that you can touch it up if things start to fade and look dull.

When applying eyeliner, choose the form you feel most comfortable with. It is available in liquid or pencil, with a variety of applicators. These all behave a little differently – pencil eyeliners are easier to smudge for soft effects, while liquid ones are better for dramatic lining. You can line only the top lid, or both lids, but if you choose the latter, be sure to do the top lid first. The heaviest lines should be applied to the upper lid. These are the glamorous eye makeup tips.
